I live in rural east Norfolk, between Norwich and Yarmouth. We moved here 7 years ago from the Midlands where we had lived for 20 years.I am married, with two grown-up children and two grandchildren.
My career was principally spent in health and safety. My final appointment before retirement was as Director of Health and Safety for a large heavy industrial manufacturing plc. Quite a contrast to the fields of sugar beet which surround me where I live now.
After successfully gaining my Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, I became a Corporate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, and Chairman of my local branch in Worcester. Immediately after qualifying, I embarked on a 3 year course with the Open University and gained my Certificate, then a Diploma in Management. After 10 years of working at a strategic level, I set up my own successful health and safety consultancy, working for a wide variety of organisations from multi-site shops, to highly academic organisations.
Always a believer in lifelong learning, along the way I developed interests outside of health and safety. I was one of the first to train as an Image Consultant when that concept first came to England from the USA 25 years ago. I then took an interest in Holistic Interior Design, and completed a home study course. I became a Reiki Master, receiving my training at Claridge House.
I have always knitted and have been lucky enough to use my retirement to study knitting, and the knitting process in greater depth. I have mastered nearly everything, but still have a love/hate relationship with lace!

This course is for those who have previously attended a knitting week-end at Claridge House, or who are very skilled knitters. The programme for the week-end is challenging, fast, but friendly. Entrelac, intarsia, double-sided knitting, Kitchener stitch, and a lace refresher are all on the menu. Places limited to 6.

I have just returned from a retreat that was held at Claridge House. I can`t recommend it highly enough, the friendly staff, fabulous vegetarian food , beautiful gardens and the lovely clean and airy rooms all added up to an absolutely wonderful stay - June 2017
Our first visit here and we certainly feel we are going away with `rest and renewal`. We enjoyed the comfortable accommodation, had a lovely massage and the daily quiet times were also very special for us - January 2017
The room was spotless and very comfortable, the vegetarian breakfast was gorgeous, lovely fresh produce, dairy free and gluten free items too. Tranquillity and peace all around in the lovely 2 acres the house is set in - June 2017
Everything. Lovely friendly staff. Good food. A cosy "feel at home" style place amongst trees and green, giving peace and calm. Surely would stay again! So close to Gatwick Int. Airport. That`s a real convenience for foreign travellers - November 2016
Wonderful and welcoming staff, who were very attentive and happy to help. Beautiful property with large clean rooms. This is a health retreat as well as b&b style accommodation, so no TV in the rooms or alcohol. Very close to the village for dinner or drinks though - October 2016
