Carol-Ann Hooper

Carol-Ann is a Quaker who came to Focusing in 2014 whilst in the midst of taking early retirement from an academic career in social policy - her interests had included child/human development, gender and sexuality, equality and diversity, trauma and recovery. She found Focusing hugely helpful in relation to her own personal and spiritual journey and now has an Advanced Focusing Certificate from Complex Trauma UK in Leeds. She has also trained in person-centred counselling and interfaith ministry in recent years, and draws on her learning from all these as well as from her life experience in her practice of and passion for Focusing.

This weekend will introduce Focusing, an approach to self-care and healing, accessing personal truth, and deepening spiritual experience used by many Quakers. Through pausing, going within, paying attention to the felt senses in our bodies, and offering compassion to whatever we find, we can grow in awareness, self-acceptance, and peace.
